Ray R. Lindquist

My grandfather originally signed up in the military thinking he was going to be able to be a physical fitness instructor, somehow he just missed the requirements on the physical as he didn't know how exact the navy can be. Instead he ended up as a commander of a LSM in WWII.

He trained at the Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek Norfolk, Virginia

It is amazing as your browse LSM pages on the net how many training photo's there are that look exactly like this one. (Click for an closeup on my grandfather, he is in the center of the closeup)

Additional training for officers was also provided.
