Potato Donuts

A tradition from my youth, my Grandmother Lindquist would make Potato Donuts. Here is the recipe for future generations.
  • Mash together
    • 5 medium size potatoes - peeled and boiled
    • 4 tablespoons of butter
    • 1 cup of milk
  • In a seperate bowl whisk together
    • 3 eggs
    • 1/2 cup of sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • Mix ingredients with
    • 3 tablespoons of baking powder
    • 4-5 cups of flour
  • Roll out Donuts
    • dough will be very gooey
    • spread flour out on rolling board or table
    • roll out the gooey dough adding more flour as you go
    • cut donuts with mason jar ring or cup
    • deep fry in oil
  • Donuts and holes can be rolled in sugar
  • Donuts are better the day after
